Pottery taster sessions
Not ready to commit to a full course? Our pottery taster workshops in Fishponds, Bristol are a relaxed, no-pressure way to try clay for the first time — as a one-off, a gift, or just to see if it's for you before booking something longer.
Two hours, no experience needed, everything provided.
Throwing taster — try the potter's wheel
Ever wanted to have a go on the potter's wheel? This beginner-friendly session teaches you everything you need to get started.
Over two hours our tutors will guide you through centring, pulling up and shaping the walls of a pot — and explain what all that involves. There's a detailed demonstration at the start.
Groups are small, so you'll get plenty of one-to-one help and your own wheel for the whole session. Great as a one-off, a gift, or a taste of what a full course would be like.
Handbuilding taster — no wheel needed
Want to give handbuilding a go, or build your confidence working with clay? This session is a relaxed, supportive way in — no wheel needed.
You'll learn to coil, pinch and slab build, plus how to join clay using the score and slip technique, add texture and decorate your piece. There's a demonstration from your tutor at the start, and freestyling is very much encouraged.
A friendly, sociable couple of hours. Come along, meet other people having a go, and get inspired.
