Pottery taster sessions

Two hours, no experience needed, nothing to commit to. Throwing or handbuilding. →

What you get

  • Small groups. You'll get proper time with your tutor, not a demo and a nod.

  • Real live tuition. Every session is hands-on and in the room, taught by working ceramicists with their own practice.

  • Materials included. Clay, tools and glazes are part of what you pay for.

  • Firing included. One piece is included with taster sessions; courses include firing your work throughout.

  • A glazing session on courses. Your course includes glazing your pieces — we'll send you the booking link during the course.

  • A studio, not a classroom. You'll be working in the same space our members use every week.

Finding the studio

We're at 46b Ridgeway Road, just off the main road in Fishponds and right by the cycle path. Most people walk past without realising we're here — look for the gate rather than a shopfront. There's a garden out the back overlooking the allotments, which is where everyone ends up with a cup of tea.

Getting your work back

Your pieces don't come home with you on the day. Everything has to dry slowly — too fast and it cracks — then go through a bisque firing, get glazed, and go through a second firing. It's a real process and it takes time: usually up to six weeks after your session or course. We'll be in touch as soon as your work is ready to collect.
