About the Workshop
Saturday 18th & Sunday 19th July
10:00-4:00 with an hour lunch break
The two-day course will focus on throwing and altering low wide forms on the potters wheel using terracotta clay to create kitchenware. On the first day we will be looking at making baking dishes using a two different techniques, manipulating the clay straight from the wheel to create rectangular, square and oval dishes. This course is suitable for both beginners and more experienced potters as there will be plenty of guidance and one-to-one support for all aspects.
Students will be learning about the use of slip in low-fired earthenware and practicing slip application techniques. Students will learn how to work with wet-slip decoration, using slip trailers, marbling, feathering and other methods to make spontaneous gestures of decoration to the beautiful slipware pieces.
