Our four week course designed for intermediate students to enjoy a month of perfecting those well-earned throwing skills. Our tutor Lucy Turner will guide you through the next stage of your throwing journey. This course is ideal for students who have completed our beginners’ course or similar pottery induction workshops. You must have some knowledge of how to wedge and prepare clay, centre and throw small cylinders.
The aim of the course is for you to confidently throw larger, more consistent shapes that are more directed and perfected. You will be introduced to the following:
- Handle making
- Turning
- Plate throwing
- Joining clay forms
- Larger shapes
- Shape control
- Continue your throwing practice
- Reclaiming
Sessions are 3 hours long, running from 6 – 9pm, with 15 minutes at the end reserved for clean up.
A fifth session will be arranged around a month after your course for you to glaze your pieces too. This, as well as all materials and firing costs are included in the course price.
There is an opportunity for extra practice on Tuesdays from 10am-3pm at no additional cost!*
